I am hosting a special meeting on June 13, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the Loma Prieta Gymnasium to discuss expanding cable service in the Summit. Over the past year we have made great strides in expanding cable/internet service in your area. Summit residents have worked with my office to advocate for the inclusion of over 250 homes in the final amendment to the consent decision with Comcast, the cable company. Cable is now being installed and I am hopeful that Comcast will meet the September deadline for completing installation to these Summit customers.
Since the announcement of the expansion of cable service, I have received many requests to increase the territory being wired to provide greater access to cable/internet service. We have asked Comcast to provide some estimates to determine the costs for including even more Summit area homes in 2013.
I have invited representatives from Comcast to join our June 13 community meeting to help answer questions and share information about locations, costs, and timing. We plan to continue to work closely with Comcast in the coming months on expanding the Summit service area so we can get on their schedule for the coming year. Your participation in this meeting will allow us all to understand what we need to do to prepare for the expansion of cable service.
