The light rain that fell yesterday was enough to make the roads slippery and one Los Gatos man lost his life when he tried to pass a horse trailer on Soquel-San Jose Road.
At about 3:45 p.m., the man, whose name has not been released, was driving northbound approaching Stetson Road, when he crossed the double yellow lines and lost control. His black 2005 Ford F-350 Ford Pickup went off the road, ran two wheels up a steep embankment and then flipped and landed upside down, crushing the cab, according to the Santa Cruz CHP and George Smith, a local resident.
The horse trailer was not involved in the accident.
Investigators closed the road for over three hours while they investigated the scene. The name of the driver has not been released but he was said to a resident of Los Gatos. Our hearts go out to the family and friends.
